Svensk Plaståtervinning, is one of the world’s largest and most efficient plastic recycling facility located in Motala, Sweden, partnered with Cross Wrap to boost metal recovery from bale dewiring and streamline logistics through innovative shredding.
After bale dewiring, the remaining wire coils still contained plastic residue, making them bulky and inefficient to transport—only one-third of a container could be filled. Existing shredding options were either unsuitable for this specific material or too complex and costly to integrate into the facility’s existing control system.
Cross Wrap and Svensk Plaståtervinning developed the CW Coil Shredder through a prototype collaboration. It’s compact, turnkey, and shredding the metal coils into small, separable pieces. Integrated with the existing Dewiring line and controlled via the Dewiring machine’s panel, it preserved workflow continuity.
The new shredder doubled clean metal output per container from 3 tonnes to 6 tonnes, significantly improving shipping efficiency. The smooth installation, fast adjustments, and seamless control integration underscore the power of client-led innovation.
The shredder works very well and we have increased the amount of metal we are shipping out from 3 tons to 6 tons per container.
