Geminor

Cross Wrap Customer Geminor forklifting wrapped bales

Geminor, a leading European recycler specializing in refuse-derived fuel (RDF), has strengthened its partnership with Cross Wrap through a new (when?) installation at its Hull facility in the UK. The Bale Wrapper improves Geminor’s ability to process and export RDF efficiently, continuing the trusted collaboration between the two companies.

Challenge

UK infrastructure favors exports of energy-recoverable waste rather than local incineration. Geminor needed a robust solution to compact, wrap, and ship large volumes of RDF, approximately 650,000 to over 700,000 tonnes in 2024, with minimal contamination and maximum export efficiency.

Solution

The newly upgraded production line at Hull features a baler and Saalasti Cross Wrap Bale Wrapper, turning waste into tightly wrapped, logistics ready square bales. This method outperforms round bales, enhancing transportation density and export suitability.

Key takeaway

Cross Wrap’s Bale Wrapping solution ensures clean, tight wrapping of high-energy-density RDF, and supports Geminor’s export model and sustainability goals. The successful collaboration echoes our long-standing partnership with FCC UK and reinforces our position as a trusted provider in the waste-to-energy sector.

In our view, Cross Wrap is the market leader in wrapping refused derived fuel. … For our UK facility, it was really important that we got the right equipment and the right provider, and the Cross Wrap solution was the best solution for us.
